MG ZS EV Facelift

EVs are all the rage in India these days. And no automotive manufacturer wants to get left behind the changing trends. The MG ZS EV is MG Motor's answer to the Tata Nexon EV, and while it has been around for a minute, the ZS EV is slated to receive a facelift this year. The EV counterpart of MG's ICE powered MG Astor is not only set to receive new looks, but word on the street is that MG Motors is also looking to change up the battery pack. Read on to find out more about the upcoming MG ZS EV Facelift.

MG ZS EV Facelift Spotted

Officially, the upcoming MG ZS EV Facelift was first seen in October last year, when MG Motors revealed the car with its new upcoming looks. It received changes such as a new front end, bumper, body painted grille, and a slew of similar changes. The revealed updates by MG also pointed towards new alloy rims, taillights and reworked DRL-integrated headlights on the upcoming MG offering. Recently spotted camouflaged versions on the streets of India point toward the fact that the ZS EV has begun testing on our streets. Its upcoming launch can be expected in the second half of 2022.

Upcoming MG ZS EV To Get a New Battery?

MG Motors has been working on improving the ZS EV's range. To that end, information has been revealed that MG is working on new battery packs. The facelifted ZS EV showcased last year was claimed to be offered with a 51kWh and a 72kWh battery pack. Further information revealed last year claimed that MG may also be working on a smaller battery pack for the ZS EV. While not a lot of information is available, we believe that MG is working on a smaller battery pack for an upcoming mass-market EV offering that will undercut the significantly priced ZS EV. While on the other hand, the ₹20 lakh (approx) costing ZS EV will be offered with a new, larger battery pack with more range and possibly more power. This will be done to properly compete with the upcoming Nexon EV facelift, which is also slated to receive a larger battery. Albeit, the larger battery-equipped MG ZS EV will go on sale for an even bigger premium.

The current MG ZS EV is powered by a 44.5kWh battery and is capable of putting down 141bhp and 353Nm of torque, paired with a roughly 419kms of claimed range. With a 51kWh or a 72kWh battery pack, the MG ZS EV Facelift could offer a roughly 400-500kms range. For more information on the MG ZS EV, such as its On-Road Price in India, check out autoX.
